The Up and Coming Tennis Team

The Up and Coming Tennis Team

The tennis team got off to a quick start this season, beating Packer 4-1 and then SIA 4-1 right off the bat. This was not only the best start in Berkeley Carroll tennis history, but these two wins tied the total wins for the team’s two prior years. After the win against SIA, Captain Jake Justh stated, “I think our recent success is also largely in part due to the inspirational Coach Yasner.” After the hot start they then lost to Dwight 5-0, in a match whose outcome would have been largely different had four of the team’s star players not been absent. These players included captains Jake Justh and Shay Kothari, as well as Dean Ross and Zac Fishman. This past Thursday, the team lost in dramatic fashion to Friends Seminary, despite gritty victories from Kothari and Justh, giving them a two and two record on the year. As the doubles two team Isaac and Kian walked on the court, the match was tied up, but the freshmen were unable to pull out the victory and lost 3-2, despite their best efforts. This young team has yet to reach its full potential, and with no seniors graduating this year the sky’s the limit. This team’s singles one player, Jack O’Brien, has gotten off to a rough start, but the team is confident in his ability . Another outstanding quality of this talented bunch is the way they carry themselves. Win or lose these boys do it in style. With the leadership of Captains Shay and Jake, and the outstanding play from doubles one team, Dean Ross and Zac Fishman, this team should be exciting to watch as the playoffs grow nearer.
