JV Boys Basketball season over after tough loss to Packer
The Berkeley Carroll JV Boys’ season has ended following a tough defeat to Packer, 68-40. This game was the semi-finals of the ACIS with Packer coming into this game as the 1 seed and BC coming into the game as a 4 seed.
In the first quarter both teams came out not shooting the ball as well as they would’ve liked to. Packer, though, were able to force some turnovers and come out of the first quarter with an 8-point lead. The second quarter is where the game changed. Packer made a big run at the end of the quarter, outscoring BC 14-3, which ended up giving them a half time lead of 36-15. Packer continued its dominance from the second quarter, getting open looks and knocking them down. Packer outscored BC 18-7 in the third quarter, essentially closing out the game. BC did fight back in the fourth quarter, but unfortunately it was too little too late for the Lions.
Coach Nelson reflected on the season, saying, “I think we grew a lot from the start of the season till now. The guys played really hard. We have a great core of freshman returning and some good sophomores moving up to varsity overall I am excited for the future of BC basketball.”
Sophomore Matthew Justh, who contributed 21 points, added, “Great season. It had its ups and downs, but I think we really came together and grew as a team and a family.”
