Girls Soccer Team Places Highest In Three Years
October 7, 2013
The girl’s varsity soccer season is off to a strong start. In the second-to-last week of summer, the team attended a pre-season training camp, Henry and Cook, at the Darrow School in New Lebanon, New York for one week. There, they had intense training each day. The camp experience also gave them a chance to bond as a team. The team’s two captains, Lily Rose, senior, and Claudia, senior, were chosen at the camp. Both have both been dedicated players and leaders on the team since their freshman year, and are excited for another successful season before heading off to college. After working hard at H and C, the team headed back to Brooklyn for another week of preseason training at the parade grounds. The first few games of the season were against teams who have historically been at the top of the PSAA league, and although the outcome was not what they had hoped for, the girls were really able to work on playing as a unit. The team has quickly bounced back to defeat Waldorf, three to one, with Lily Rose, one of the captains of the team, scoring all three goals. The following week, our team beat Portledge, two to one, with Sabrina, junior, scoring one goal, and Emily, sophomore, scoring the other. Both are teams that have beaten Berkeley Carroll in the past, and are top competitors in the PSAA. For the first time in three years, the BC team is in third place in the league, which, as of right now, sets them up for a spot in the playoffs.
