Sottocasa is located between Hoyt and Smith Street on Atlantic Avenue. It serves authentic neapolitan pizza, which originated in Naples, Italy. Neapolitan pizza is characterized by simple and fresh ingredients (a basic dough, raw tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and olive oil). The center of the pizza is wetter than the crust allowing the pizza to only be served whole. Sottocasa prides itself on the freshness and quality of their ingredients: cheese from Wisconsin, Italian organic tomatoes, and homemade dough. All pizzas are cooked in a two ton pizza oven that was flown over from Italy. Many different salads, breads, and desserts are also available if the pizza just isn’t enough.

Looking in from outside, Sottocasa isn’t the fanciest of restaurants. There are two long rows of tables that can be pushed together if needed. Overall, the atmosphere has a simple but modern vibe. Its position on bustling Atlantic Avenue gives it the first impression of “just another restaurant,” but to its regulars, Sottocasa is a casual meeting place for friends and families where memories can be made. At the moment, locals are the only inhabitants of Sottocasa, but as it gets more and more reviews, the restaurant will get more popular.
